4) The race between As Safa and Al Marwa.
The next rite is the race between the two hills, of As Safa
and Al Marwa. Upon arriving at As Safa, he recites the following divine words:
"As Safa and Al Marwa are among the sacred symbols."
Climb up to Al Safa, look at the Ka'ba and raise your hands
in gratitude. Then it descends at a normal pace until it reaches the valley
between As Safa and Al Marwa; at this moment, it accelerates its passage. To
reach Al Marwa, climb up to the Stone and carry out the same rite that has
taken place in As Safa.
This going up and down between As Safa and Al Marwa is done
seven times, and it is said that it is in memory of Hagar, who, on this same
land, was looking for water for his son Ishmael.
